Free OpenFoam Seminar: Sustainable Code Development and Cases Management with OpenFOAM Foundation Release and Demo on "Cases Management "
We are happy to invite you to the fourth seminar about OpenFOAM organized by von Karman Institute for Fluid Dynamics.
The event aims to bring together OpenFOAM users as well as those interested in potential applications of the code, both for academic and industrial purposes. The seminar will be held online, and it will be organized in the following way:

Demo on “Cases Management” by Dr. Ronald Lehnigk (Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf) The software released by the OpenFOAM Foundation is developed with a strong focus on improving usability and maintainability. Functionality is kept as general as possible and as a result, the syntax for creating simulation setups evolves over time and it is not guaranteed that setups remain functional over a longer period of time without any adjustments. If users desire to keep their setups compatible, e.g., to repeatedly check validity for a certain application, they have to plan for maintenance work. The associated effort can be reduced if the setups are streamlined and placed under version control. In this demo we present a selection of tools that we found to be useful for developing and maintaining case setups. An approach for batch processing a larger set of simulation cases is demonstrated that can be used to conduct single timestep tests or full simulation runs in a scalable manner. The demo will highlight the benefits of using on a containerized installation of the OpenFOAM Foundation software. Furthermore, a solution for rendering simulations setups from templates is presented that allows to conduct efficient parameter studies. |
