SUMMARY:Free Online Seminar: Introduction to Luminescent Imaging and Chemic
al Flow Control for Fluid Science
DESCRIPTION:We are happy to invite you to the free online seminar \"Introdu
ction to Luminescent Imaging and Chemical Flow Control for Fluid Science\"
that will be delivered by Dr. Hirotaka Sakaue\, Associate Professor\, The
Institute of Flow Physics and Control (FlowPAC)\, The University of Notre
  Dame.
Date: 3 March 2025\, from 10:30 to 12 PM (Brussels)
 Interdiscip
linary research combining fluid science and chemistry is introduced. There
are two research columns: luminescent imaging and chemical flow control.
The former uses a luminescent molecule to understand unsteady flows. By
using the light emission from a luminescent molecular probe\, spatiotempor
al information of a fluid flow can be captured. The presentation focuses o
n the fundamental principle of luminescent imaging and its features for un
steady flow measurements. Some examples in the unsteady flow measurement a
re also given. The latter uses a functional chemical to control a flow or
a moving object in a flow. Two representative works using hydrophobic and
hydrophilic chemicals and a hair structure will be introduced.
 A short i
ntroduction to the Institute of Flow Physics and Control (FlowPAC) and the
University of Notre Dame will also be given.
 Before registering\, pleas
 e check our eligibility criteria.
